Weaving again at last

blackandwhiteIt has taken me weeks to finally complete the preparation for this project.

I am not sure why it turned into a marathon effort, I am just pleased that I am, at last, able to sit down and weave.

As I was finishing off preparing the harakeke I decided that I wanted to make my second weaving stand a little more stable before I used it again.

This added yet another little project to my ‘to do’ list.rack
Previously I had been using a garment rack where I had replaced the top rail with a narrow length of wood.

corkI had nailed a couple of wine corks into the under side and they slid nicely into the uprights .  Along the top I had a row of small nails to hook my weaving over.

Now my second weaving frame looks much better.

Well, actually, it doesn’t look very different really. However it is much more stable.  20cm long pieces of doweling have been glued and screwed to the underside of the top bar and they fit neatly into the uprights.  I can also adjust the height of the top bar depending on whether I am sitting on a chair or the ball.

Today saw me sitting in my weaving space with the door open enjoying every moment of a beautiful day, weaving and listening to The Coast.

I am really pleased with how it is looking and excited to be working away as I think about how I am going to finish the top.
