\nThe hukahuka for this piece are made with Foxton harakeke prepared in different ways. The exception is the white muka which is from \u014ctaki. I had saved what remained once I completed my first ever hieke. That hieke was for my brother Basil and the colours are of the sea, which was especially appropriate for him. They reflect his many years of involvement in organisations such as surf lifesaving, coast guard and search and rescue
\nI have also included a few strands of the blue cotton I used as the aho on the Hieke.
\nBasil died in 2023.

\n\"\"The protective quilt I made for the weaving is tied with plaits of harakeke from Aunty Ettie\u2019s beautiful plant she had growing in her back garden in Thynne Street in Foxton. Just along the street from where Kiri grew up.<\/p>\n
